Should Manufacturers equip high-value electronic items with built-in GPS trackers?
There was a report from a Spanish language website, La Union, states that 19 year old man allegedly broke into a home through an open window and stole a personal laptop computer that was left on the kitchen counter. The computer was eventually tracked down using the built-in GPS tracker and the suspect was taken in for possession of stolen merchandise.
As technology keeps advancing, it will only be a mater of time where most electronic products, will come out with some kind of anti-theft devices. There are small radio frequency readers that can be installed into large electronics currently in the market, but not a true satellite GPS tracker.
It will be interesting to see what comes out in the upcoming years, due to the fact that more and more people are trusting and depending on GPS technology for their everyday lives.
